La Laa! Tah Dah!

KCM, as we lovingly call it has been publishing since October 5, 2008. Arts marketer Marcy Chiasson (also here in LinkedIn) and I began this journey in Late June 2008 when our local awesome Performing arts journalist at the KC Star was laid off.

...Incidentally, my dad was a machinist at The Star under Knight-Ridder, among other corporate owners. He fixed and manufactured new parts for the then completely outdated presses...

With huge sacrifices in time from our careers, Marcy and I began to work away at covering the arts in KC.

We teamed up with PresentMagazine.com, who incubated us until this past April 29, when we launched our new site, and 25 contributors, the folks who have made it possible for us to wend our way through the cold winter of the recession, and no funding to be seen, while we waited impatiently for our 501c3 to come through in February, while we literally switched to Ramen...very tasty, and cast about for ways to pay our mortgages. It's been extremely difficult, but we kept marching on, not seeing any alternative.

(until just recently... a little corporate funding eked out!)
It was just enough to get the new site going.

The writers and contributors and we are doing Potemkin-like work until we can fulfill our budgetary needs, until then we struggle along. But boy do we LOOK GOOD!

Please tell us what you think. If you have any pointers, or links to some sources of funding, or just peruse. Thanks in advance.
